Terms & Conditions of Service

These terms explain who we are, what we do and do not do, and what you can expect from us. You are never under any obligation to proceed.

Draft last updated: 26 October 2026

Draft for review. Fee wording is TBC pending approval; any other outstanding confirmations are marked below. This draft is not a final approved policy.

Who we are

BREACH REDRESS is an independent information and enquiry portal for potential legal aid data breach claims. In these draft terms, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to the website operator.

TBC — confirm the operator’s legal name, registered address, company details and any applicable regulatory registrations before these terms are approved. This draft does not claim FCA authorisation.

We are entirely independent of the Legal Aid Agency and the Ministry of Justice. We assist people affected by the legal aid data breach.

Using Our Site

By using Our Site, you confirm that you accept these terms and conditions of service and that you agree to comply with them. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use Our Site. We recommend that you keep a copy of these terms for future reference — though please consider your own safety and privacy when saving or printing anything from this site.

Our Site is intended for adults. Nothing on Our Site is legal advice, and the content is provided for general information and support only.

There are other terms that may apply to you

These terms and conditions of service refer to the following additional terms, which also apply to your use of Our Site:

  • Our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use and store your personal data, including information relating to your enquiry and any sensitive information you provide.
  • Our Cookie Policy, which sets out information about cookies and similar technologies on Our Site.

We may make changes to these terms

We amend these terms from time to time. Every time you wish to use Our Site, please check these terms to ensure you understand the terms that apply at that time. This draft was last updated on 26 October 2026.

Our areas of work

Our Site provides information and collects enquiries about potential compensation claims connected with the legal aid data breach.

TBC — confirm the scope of any claims management or referral activities and the applicable regulatory permissions before offering a live service.

How we will assist you

We are not a law firm and we do not give legal advice. Our service is limited to listening to you, an initial assessment of whether you may be eligible, and — only with your consent — a subsequent referral to a regulated law firm which can act on your behalf. Any resulting contract that you enter into for legal services will be with the law firm and we will not be a party to it. We therefore do not accept any responsibility or related liability for any advice given to you, or other work carried out on your behalf, by them or by any other law firm you choose to appoint.

You are under no obligation to instruct a law firm through this portal. Any proposed referral and withdrawal arrangements must be explained before you proceed.

Please note that claims may need to be brought within a certain period of time and may otherwise fail. Our recommendation is to seek legal advice promptly.

If we feel we cannot help you, we will tell you honestly, and you are always free to seek advice elsewhere.

You do not need to use a claims management company or our referral service to seek compensation. You can seek independent legal advice or contact the organisation responsible directly. Making a complaint to the Information Commissioner’s Office is free; the ICO does not award compensation.

TBC — confirm any referral or fee-sharing arrangements and provide the relevant disclosures before a referral is offered.

No-win, no-fee

TBC — approved data-breach fee wording, deductions, expenses and cancellation terms will be inserted once agreed.

This draft does not set an agreed fee or authorise any deduction from compensation. The law firm will set out its own fees and cancellation rights in writing before you agree to anything.

Your information and digitised signature

We are committed to safeguarding the privacy of users of Our Site. Please read our Privacy Policy to understand how your personal data will be treated.

For the purpose of setting up your matter with the law firm, Our Site can capture a digitised signature and allow you to review and place it on documents. You warrant that all data provided by you is accurate. You should review documents carefully before proceeding.

The current enquiry journey uses a practice claims pack. Submitting an enquiry with that practice pack does not execute a legal agreement or appoint a solicitor. Your signature and practice documents are saved with your enquiry when you submit.

Any live legal-services agreement, form of authority, permitted use of your signature and applicable cancellation rights must be explained and agreed separately before you instruct a law firm. TBC — final approved signing and cancellation wording.

Sharing your data and our referral panel

Any proposed referral must identify the receiving law firm and explain what information would be shared before you decide whether to proceed. Further details of data handling are set out in our Privacy Policy.

TBC — confirm the operator, any referral partners, their regulatory details and the arrangements for sharing your information. This draft does not identify an approved referral panel.

Contacting us

Please use our Contact page for enquiries about this portal. Do not include passwords, bank details or unnecessary sensitive documents in an initial message.

Intellectual property

We are the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in Our Site and in the material published on it. You may print or download extracts for your own personal use, but you must not use any part of the content on Our Site for commercial purposes without a licence from us.

BREACH REDRESS includes data supplied by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Use of SRA data does not imply SRA endorsement. A firm-directory match does not establish eligibility for a claim.

Our liability

The content on Our Site is provided for general information only. It is not advice on which you should rely, and it does not take account of your individual circumstances. Although we make reasonable efforts to keep the information on Our Site up to date, we make no representations, warranties or guarantees, whether express or implied, that the content is accurate, complete or up to date.

We do not exclude or limit our liability to you where it would be unlawful to do so. This includes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.

Complaints

If you have a concern about this portal, please use our Contact page.

TBC — approve the operator’s complaints procedure, response times and any applicable external dispute-resolution arrangements. Complaints about how your personal data is handled can be raised with the Information Commissioner’s Office.

Governing law

These terms and conditions of service are governed by the laws of England and Wales. The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
